Fume Cupboard
A fume cupboard, also known as a fume hood, is a ventilated enclosure used in laboratories to capture and remove hazardous fumes, vapors, and dusts. It provides a localized containment and ventilation system to protect laboratory personnel and the surrounding environment from exposure to harmful materials.
Fume cupboards use ventilation systems to draw air into the enclosure and exhaust it outside the building, or through a filtration system in recirculating models.
The enclosed workspace, often with a sliding sash or door, helps to contain hazardous materials and prevent their escape into the laboratory.
They protect laboratory personnel from inhaling harmful fumes and vapors and also help prevent the contamination of the surrounding environment.
